MX Skills Sessions

MX skills sessions are focused on developing a wide range of skills that have been identified as crucial in the development of well-rounded, skilful hockey players.

Players at MX are encouraged to think about how each skill can be applied effectively in match-play scenarios, to ensure that skill development at MX translates into better in-game performances.

Term 3 Skills Sessions:

Sessions available in Term 3 are as follows. All sessions will start in the week beginning 29 July.

Private individual and small group sessions are available on request.

Senior Session

  • Who: U18 players

  • Where: Shed One, Wellington Waterfront

  • When: Wednesdays: 6.15 - 7.40am

Junior Session

  • Who: U15 players

  • Where: Wellington Girls College

  • When: Sundays: 12.30 - 2.00pm

Primary Session

  • Who: U11 / U13 Players

  • Where: Wellington Girls College

  • When: Sundays: 2.15 - 3.45pm

Primary Session

  • Who: U11 / U13 Players

  • Where: Kelburn Normal School

  • When: Wednesdays: 3.45 - 5.00pm

MX Specialist sessions

MX offers a range of specialist skills sessions, including dragflicking and goal keeper sessions. These sessions can accelerate the development of specialist skills by providing young players with access to specialist coaches, who are experts in a given skill.


term 3 Goalkeeping

  • What: 4x 1 hour goalkeeper specific sessions

  • Who: goalkeepers U15 level and above

  • Where: Wellington Girls College

  • When: TBC with group

  • Cost: $200 inc GST

Please note that sessions will be run with a minimum of 4, and maximum of 6, players.

term 3 Dragflicking

  • What: 4x 1 hour sessions

  • Who: players aged 15 and older

  • Where: Wellington Girls College

  • When: TBC with group

  • Cost: $200 inc GST

MX Conditioning Sessions

MX conditioning sessions help prepare our players for the physical demands of hockey, ensuring that they are able to perform at their best and avoid injury. Sessions will focus heavily on speed and agility, core stability and injury prevention. 

MX conditioning sessions are run by Stradford Adams, a certified trainer from Synergy Health and Fitness, who has been working with Capital NHL athletes for a number of years in strength and conditioning development.
