Bittersweet End to 2018 for MX Hockey

This isn’t usually Ollie or I’s style but it felt really weird writing a news article about myself.

As a few of you already know, I’ve been working at Sport New Zealand on their graduate programme for the last two years. With that contract wrapping up at the end of the year, I was always going to be looking at options for 2019 and beyond.

Recently, I’ve secured a role at AIG in Auckland working in their sponsorship team. The role will be an exciting one and I’m looking forward to some of the challenges ahead but it is bittersweet when it comes to MX.

For the last 18 months MX has been on the rise and we’re about to finish the year with our biggest term to date. 2019 will be an even bigger year for MX Hockey.

We’ve been planning for this for awhile and feel as though MX is well positioned to continue to thrive going forward.

I will still be heavily involved in MX even from afar, although I will miss sharing the 6am struggle with our players, my contribution will just take a different form.

Thank you to everyone who is part of the MX team, the parents, fellow coaches, sponsors, Ollie and most importantly, our players who have made the last year and a half thoroughly enjoyable.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe Christmas holiday and come back refreshed and ready to go next year.

On a final note, I can assure all of our members that, in Ollie and co. you are in safe hands going forward.

Cheers,
Conor
